Draft Strategy
The week leading up to your fantasy basketball draft is arguably the most important week of the season. (With the week leading up to the NBA trade deadline, the week leading up to your own league’s trade deadline, and the playoffs if in a H2H league being the others.) Draft well, and you’ll save yourself hours of pain later. Here are a few ways to prepare a real draft strategy:
- Have your sleeper list ready (but don’t overpay).
- Likewise, have your bust list ready.
- Balance risky draft picks with safe draft picks, particularly for a specific position. For example…
- For H2H leagues, you’re not just picking a player, you’re also picking his team.
- Be aware how others value players that you’re targeting.
Other good articles about fantasy basketball draft strategy:
- Brian McKitish wrote a pretty darn good and comprehensive piece for the website of a certain sports programming network. I especially agree with his philospohy of targeting multi-category producers and rare categories.
- The original “Draft Day Manifesto” by Matthew Berry, also of that semi-popular entertainment sports site.
